Is there a good/correct way to remove the volume knob on the Waris/CDM mobiles that minimizes damage to those plastic tabs on the knob that clips into the control head (and possible damage to the pot below it - maybe that's not as likely)?

If you pull the control head off the radio and remove the speaker and circuit board you should be able to just push the volume knob through with your finger.

ok - taking the control head apart is the only way I can see of doing it as well. I just thought someone know of another way. Thanks for the response....

Ok, curiosity got the best of me, I gotta ask... why would you be taking the knobs off of CDM mobiles, especially 15 times a day?

I could see if you were replacing broken ones, but then why would you worry about breaking off the tabs?

to replace the mechanical control, the LCD,change the PCB.
other radios use the same knobs

You would have to pull the circuit board from the control head for that and it doesn't require the volume knob being removed. I just turn the volume control and knob all the way down during reassembly to ensure they align properly when the control boards gets snapped back in.

There is never a need to remove the volume knob on the CDM mobile. If it is broken, and the control is not broken, you can just pry it out, since the replacement will snap in. Any other reason, the knob assembly stays on the front of the bezel, and you take the control head apart. All controls, circuit board, etc, are accessible from the rear once the control head is disassembled.

This applies to any head with a similar design such as the MCS2000.
