Hi fellas

just got into this and have purchased the following gear to work on the radios

for gp300's - rib less cable and software

ht6700e - rib & cables & software

running software on xp laptop 2ghz

1st question:

i cannot read the radios even though the software runs on the laptop.

what am i doing wrong? what is the proper proceedure for reading them - ie radio on/off, press trasnsmit etc etc

once this is accomplished - i know walk before i run!! - how do i copy the channel frequencies of the gp300s to the ht600e?

all help will be most appreciated!

First of all, both of those are DOS based programs, which require a true DOS mode to read/write the radios. As you have seen, the program may run under an XP command prompt, but it cannot access the hardware (COM port) to talk to the radios.

Secondly, even if you could access a true DOS mode, that computer is likely far too fast for the RSS to read/write the radios properly. Depending on what version of RSS you're using, the GP300 might have a chance, but your HT600E is likely dead in the water.

It also sounds like you aren't using a genuine Motorola RIB & cables. While this isn't neccesarily bad, you need to test your hardware on a known-good programming set-up to determine if everything is working as it should.

Oh, and if you get to the point where you can read/write the radios, you will have to program each radio manually. You cannot clone between different radio models.
