GM300 DECODE/ENCODE

I'm using 2 gm300 Maxtracs as a repeater. It seems that it take almost 2 sec for the gm 300 to decode my pl before it with drop the cor.
I was told there is a setting in the software to select the timing on how long it decodes before the cor will drop.
I have tried editing the singal menu fields, but I haven't had much luck.
Do I need to put a exterinal pl deck on , something with a little more speed ?
Any help would be aprreicated.
Thanks

what's the rest of your setup, rick, duplexer, or what?

The system consists of 2 GM300's,cat 200 controller tx/rx cans, mot 100 pa, arrc preamp.I have 3 wires coming out of the receiver going to the controller and 3 wires coming out og the transmitter also going to the controller.Basically what I'm doing is using the 16 pin acc connector for my cor, audio out, ptt, and gnd.
The GM300 thatI'm using for the receiver has the pl enabled. If I take it out of pl , there is no delay at all. When the pl is enabled , it takes a good 2 sec before the cor will drop to key the transmit radio. I'm not sure if this is standard for these radios to take so long to decipher the pl tone.
Everything works great except that 2 sec delay.

No, that 2 seconds is definitely not standard or normal. The PL decoder typically activates in under 1/4 second if the input deviation is between 500 and 1000 Hz.
Listen to the speaker on the receiver when you feed a signal into it. If you can hear the signal well before the 2 second delay, then I'd suspect the interfacing to the CAT200, or several settings, are incorrect.
Things you can check: make sure the receiver only has one channel programmed into it. Delete all the others. Do not enable scanning. Do not enable MDC or any other kind of signalling.
MaxTracs, which are basically the same radio, don't normally have a COR output on the accessory jack. I utilize the RX MUTE signal which can be found on the logic board. A single transistor inverts this and feeds my CAT200 controller's COR input. I connect both the COR and CTCSS inputs together, both active low, and let the radio decode the PL. You can find this signal if you have the service manual. It works very well.

GM300's among the Maxtrac and Radius radios have a known problem with the 33uF coupling cap in the discrimenator line to the audio filters on the 'logic' board. The cap may leak or have internal resistance which upsets the bias on the two op amps.
Change it to a 4.7 or 10 uF tantalum cap.
