Hi all, Does anyone make a commercial remote(mic and speaker) that plugs into the 16 pin connector on a Maxtrac? Thanks. Davie

I know there are tone remote interfaces available. One piece plugs into the MaxTrac and allows just about any two- or four-wire desktop tone remote control console to make the MaxTrac transmit and receive. But these are pricey, costing more than the radio itself.
You can attach almost any 8 ohm speaker to the 16-pin accessory jack of the MaxTrac.
You can use a shielded network extension cable (wired appropriately) to extend the microphone from the front panel. You can't get all the functionality out of the 16-pin jack (i.e. no hang-up circuit).

I bought one on Ebay a while back. It was a "Local" remote made by Motorola. I think it had 8 or 9 wires running out of it. I used it for my Maxtrac repeater and it worked great.
I can't remember the exact number, but as long as you get one that is not a tone or DC remote, you'll be fine.
I paid around $30.00 for it.
[edit] I think it was an L1473.
