CDM1550LS sometimes power-ups with turned off backlight

Hi all!

I have a two CDM1550LS radios.

First radio (firmware version is R05.05.04) after writing via CPS (and as result after automatic rebooting) sometimes power-ups with turned off backlight. This is abnormal, because this problem appears not always - only in a number of cases. In majority of cased this radio power-ups normally - with turned on backlight.

This is not a bad contact problem, because simple turning OFF/ON radio power-ups radio with turned on backlight. And if I just use this radio (I mean that I don't write it via CPS), it is always power-ups with turned on backlight.

Other (second) radio (firmware version is R04.02.08) always power-ups with turned on backlight.

Any ideas?

i have similar things happen too, especially after reprogramming. It's sometimes seems like the radio doesn't reboot properly after a soft-restart done at the end of a CPS session. I don't think it's too much of a problem, just restart it or turn it off and it functions fine after that.

imagine that...a transient problem in a waris radio.. :-)

Happened to me on one of my CDM1250's, it would do the same thing, especially after programming.

This is not a bug, this is "feature"? =)

There is a selection in the Waris CPS that allows you to choose weather the backlight is to be on or off upon startup, but it appears it turns it off anyways sometimes.

Not really a feature, more of a bug.

We have 1 out of 2 Waris mobiles go to the depot after 6 months.

POFS radios.

We have had less than 30 CDM radios go to the depot, out of hundreds...possibly over 1000, over the course of 7 years. We've also never had a customer complain that they're out-performed by any other competitor's radios. I think they're a fantastic radio platform.

As far as the intermittant backlight issue after programming, one possible explanation is if you read the radio with the backlight off, then save the codeplug, the radio will always reset to the backlight off position if you make changes to that codeplug then write it into the radio.

If you read the radio while the backlight is on, then write that same codeplug back into it & experience the backlight going off, I can't explain it other than "it's a bug".

You are not right. My backlight always turned on. I do not turn it off. And radio also do not turn it off independently.
