I have a mid-power UHF Spectra with intermittant receive. No pattern for when problem occurs. Caps have been changed. Vibration and input voltage do not affect. What could be causing this?

Check the injection cable and connector on the RF deck.

Have you verified the accual receiver sensitivity?

Receive sens is good. The problem is receiving a local repeater.

If the problem is limited to a single repeater, I would suspect that the repeater itself may be off-frequency, or perhaps modulating right out of the Spectra's passband. I've heard it happen.

Definitely check the actual injection frequency coming out of the VCO, as has already been suggested. Alternatively, check the transmit frequency. It is possible that your radio's reference oscillator is drifting or going bad (seen that happen as well).

Happy tweaking.

Other Spectras on system do not have this problem. Transmitt frequency is always OK.

Can you confirm that it's only with the one repeater that you have the problem? Do other channels work okay?

Could be a PL decode problem, have you tried putting the radio in monitor when the problem occurs?

The radio is always in monitor mode.
