Board Downtime

Hey Guys -

I know that there have been concerns regarding board downtime - I've gotten emails and IM's from people regarding it.

I am aware this has been happening over the past couple of weeks.

We have been working to resolve the issue with the host, and hopefully these issues will be, if not have been solved. One problem last week was due to one of their genset's catching on fire (oops), and they needed to D/C the AC Power.

In the mean time, keep your pants on if it goes down for an hour or two. It's not something that is expected, planned, or otherwise under our control.

We are watching the situation and are closly in touch with the people who are responsible for the maintence and upkeep of the physical system that run the board.

There is a backup which does run every morning, which will generate a could not connect to database error - this backup is scripted and scheduled. The time of which it does take place is out of our control, there's not much I can do about that.

Rest assured that if these issues continue, we will work to fix the problem. While it is great that for the most part this board is avalible to the public at no charge 365 days / year - I don't see a few hours worth of downtime to be an issue over the course of a given year. It happens with any service, anywhere.

Thanks,

Alex
