Emergency Alert on Centracom Gold Elete

Post by GlennD »

We have a Centracom system with 21 consoles shared with PD and Fire. We have just received some XTS5000 portables that have emergency signalling that we could enable. Our older Sabers did not have this.

If the portable sends out the emergency does only the consoles with that channel selected see the emergency or do they all see it?

We would not want Fire to see a PD emergency.

If the console has the talkgroup in question in it's configuration (ie: it's an icon on the screen or in one of the other folders on the screen), then that console will receive the emergency. It does not matter if the talkgroup is selected or not.

This where a properly programmed alias database really shines.
You can also add an external alarm or even use the Radio Control Module on the Smartzone system if you have licenses for extra positions.

Thanks, That would make the feature pretty useless to us. We also have two remoted consoles that have access to the channels but normally have other channels selected.

Since we are not trunking we have channels, not talk groups.

In either the Elite Administrator program or the CDM, you can enable/disable emergency receive per talk group. If you created two identical configurations - one for PD and one for FD, you can enable emergency receive on only the PD talk groups with the PD configuration, and enable emergency receive on only the FD talk groups on the FD configuration and you'll be ready to go. This will work only if you have positions dedicated to just PD and FD - unless you would be fine with the dispatcher loading the appropriate (PD or FD) configuration each time they sat down.
