I have (2) VHF high band HT1000's with slightly different model numbers - I was hoping someone could help me understand the difference between the two. I was unable to find the information elsewhere on the site.

1) H01KDC9AA3BN

2) H01KDC9AA3DN

The difference is in the last 2 characters of the model number.

Additionally, the model ending in BN has 3 pins that contact the battery and the model ending in DN has only 2 - the third position has a small orange grommet in it.

Another strange thing is that the guy at our station who does all the radio programming was able to clone the radio ending in DN without problem, but when he tried to clone the model ending in BN, it kept erroring out as if the radio and RSS were not talking to each other.

Any info would be great.

The bn and dn note revision numbers. B would have been the 2nd revision and d the 4th and final revision. D models cannot clone to other models due to them being capable of different channel spacing. Specifically the changes to the a,b,c models I'm not sure of, someone else on the board may be able to comment. As the FCC channel spacing requirements changed the d model controller allowed this narrower spacing requirement.

At least b,c,d models will do 12.5 wide channels, the spacing between them changed and only the d models are capable of the newer frequencies being handed out by FCC. For instance:

155.1225 will only program to a d model. any other model will round to 155.1250.

The battery contacts changed during one revision. You may want to search for this topic, it was covered before.

The "AN" is also 12.5 KHz capable. We have several systems that have converted to narrowband. many have mixed AN, BN, CN and DN. All are operating narrowband.
