hi everyone,

How do these actually work? i know that non-permanant gutter mounts are used, so the bar can be installed and removed easily, but how does the wiring work? Im pretty sure that the lightbar is just plugged into the main wiring cable, but can be un-plugged for easy removal and is not hard wired?? anyone give me a definate answer?

thanks guys....

the wiring is usually passed thru the vehicle skin and terminates in a large (quasi-)weatherproof connector that mates up nicely to a similar connector on the lightbar. depending on the style, some have a clamp-clip on the outside, and some have a screw type lock down but they both do the same thing.

...and unless you use it frequently, its not recommended especially if your in a salt air or winter enviroment as they tend to corrode the contact pins quickly resulting in poor operation (unless you keep it clean) on a regular basis.
