Anyone ever recrystaled and retuned a Plectron Chief R720 to the 2 meter ham band? Any luck - will the receiver go out of band a few mhz?

Also, anyone have a service manual as a pdf file, etc? Thanks in advance!

I found some info for you right here on the bat.

The R720 is for the 148-174 split, so depending how far down you want to go, hopefully it'll do it. So many other splits and luckily you got the best chance.

Good luck.

Chris,
Sorry to resurrect such an old thread. I have never recrystalled an R720. I'm not sure how far the receiver can be adjusted without replacing coils or capacitors.

I have converted the decoders in Plectrons and Motorola Alert Monitors from Quik Call (2+2 chord tones) to Quik Call II by only adding a few jumpers and replacing the tone filters with the Quik Call II filters / Vibrasponders.

Here is a video of a Plectron Model 500 I converted to decode Quik Call II.

Searching for a manual for Plectron R720 series. I own a pair with an adjustable coil and interested in how to make the adjustments to have it function with a new pair of tones.
