MCS 2000 audio

Post by Garry_L »

I hope this is the right section to post this question,,

I have a MCS2000 mobile unit and discovered that the audio is low(even while volume knob is fully up), does this need to be changed via the software or is a problem with radio ??

Probally an audio output stage problem. Shorting either speaker lead to ground would cause this. Bad caps, and other things may also cause the low speaker audio.

First check you can do is to measure the DV voltage on the speaker leads with the radio receiveing.. should be 6 volts DC on each speaker lead. Also do the same test without the speaker connected. Should be about 6 volts DC and equal on BOTH speaker leads.

I have found a trick with both my MCS's and CDM's. If you turn the volume knob all the way up and then down to like half way the audio seems louder...than if you start at the quiet end and put the knob at half way.
