Hi all,
I have 2 Motorola MV21CV Spirit radios. I am in need of replacement batterys for them. It currently has NI-CD batterys and I want to add NIMH battery for the higher capacity. My question is, can I charge the NIMH batterys with the wall charger that came with the radio without messing anything up?
Thanks,
Joey

I don't think Motorola makes NiMH batteries for your radio? My customers still have about 50 of these in service and I've never seen an OEM NiMH battery available.
That said, I don't think the standard charge is multi-chemistry and you won't be able to use knockoff NiMH batteries. Someone with more experience in aftermarket gear can correct me if I'm wrong.

YES the wallwort will charge the NiMh batteries, BUT it will take a longer time to charge due to the increased capacity. There is a drop-in battery charger conversion for most Spirit radios that uses the "shoe " charger..
BTW, Sandy, the NiMh batteries have been available for the Spirit radios since very early 2000....... and yes they work well how many batteries do you need :)....

I would like to thank everybody for there input, I thought I could use the nimh batterys without problems. As for the increased time to charge the battery is ok I can deal with that. I did a Google search and turned up http://www.batterybarn as the cheapest to these I need 2. They are listed as being $13.95 a piece. Not a bad price I think.
Thanks,
Joey

Motorola never had the NiMh batteries for P50, P10, MV21CV Spirit radio series that we know of.escomm wrote:Cool Will, are they still available from Motorola?
I can't seem to find any reference to them here in my price book or on MOL. The only thing I find on Google are links to aftermarket manufacturers as well :(
Try batterybarn mentioned in Joey's post.
