Hi all,
I have a mts 2000. Currently I have several "zones" set up, I can only put the radio into scan mode for 1 particular zone. Is there a way that the radio can scan more than just one zone or is that all it can do? I know it all has to be set up in the scan list, but just wanting to ask in case I am missing something

It can only scan 15 channels at a time but you can have more than one scanlist setup.

You can have up to 20 scan lists. Each conventional and each trunking personality can have a scan list assigned to it.

as already stated, you can only scan 15 channels at a time plus the current channel that you are on
you can scan across zones by assigning the channels you want to a scanlist
you can have up to 20 scan lists
just make sure that each channel is assigned to the scanlist you want, just because you programmed the scanlist for certain channels, it doesnt mean they will actually scan. you have to go to each personality and assign the channels to the scanlist as well.
ie. you can program 20+ personalities for scanlist-1 but your radio wont even scan any of them until you open scanlist-1 and add the personalities you want to the list (not exceeding 15).
yeah its a bit confusing but one does get used to it

Also, you shouldn't assign scanlists across different systems. You can program a "talkgroup" type scan list and list talkgroups from different systems, but you will miss radio traffic.

This is almost identical to the Systems Sabers in the way the scan lists are arranged.
You can add scan lists for all channels, but you MUST enable each scan list within that personality as well as have it enabled within the channel data as well.
You can scan channel 1, zone 1 then add channel 3, zone 2, then channel 1, zone 4 in one scan list, but that data MUST be arranged in the same manner as the scan list is set up, or an error will result and those channels that are not defined by a personality or zone, will not be scanned.
The RSS will pop up an error stating a channel is not defined by a personality or zone and 'ask' you to fix the problem, then once fixed, you can program the radio(Systems Saber).
There are differences in the manner in which zones, channels and scan lists are set up and programmed in the MTS 2K, but the similarities are pretty much identical as well.
Likewise, I would NEVER program ANY trunked channel/fleet/subfleet into, or with ANY conventional scan list as this will caused missed calls and loss of trunk sync as well due to the poorly managed assignments of the scan list/s.

I appreciate the responses....Let me just tell you guys what I have going on real quick. I basicly have all my primary ham stuff(repeaters) for all the local counties around, then on the next two zones I have all my simplex frequencies and the on the next 3 are other frequencies. I think I understand what you guys are saying, and I will have to play around with it and see what I can do...
BTW...no trunking is involved here, just straight VHF
