CPS help: Radio & Codeplug Feature Set Different?

I did the contract thing with Motorola years ago, got the latest A/S CPS (R05.00.02) from Motorola and just today used it for the first time. I've been using my R09.05 DOS A/S RSS up until now. I figured maybe I should finally use the CPS..... yeah I know

. Anyway, I can read my A/S fine with the CPS but when I go to write back tot he radio I get an error "Radio and codeplug feature set are different." WTH? This radio's never been hacked. It's a legit A/S. I entered service mode and the flashcode's very last digit is different from what CPS shows. Any help would be appreviated.

I remember I had some radios the same
read in the dos program and save.
Open the saved codeplug in CPS (It should autoconvert now or else in the main Motorola menu there will be a codeplug converter.
Write the codeplug back to the radio.
It should work.

Thanks Bruce. Tried that. Also tried rewriting back the just-read codeplug without modifying it. Also tried cloning but anything I try I still get the "Radio and codeplug feature set are different" error. I can't figure why the radio in service mode shows a different last digit of the flashcode than what the CPS shows. Weird stuff. So now I'm screwed because I can't read/write the radio using my DOS RSS and I can't read to the radio using CPS. This really sucks.

Isn't it possible to take a saved archive from the rss that always worked & write back to the radio using rss. I did this all the time with my jedi. GARY N4KVE

Once the radio's been read or written to by CPS RSS cannot further be used. So, I'm sitting here with an A/S that can be read by CPS but when I try to write to it it states the error. I can't go back to RSS and I can't go further with CPS.

The Astro products RSS is just not that fussy.
True, if you have an Astro radio [Astro Saber, Astro Spectra, XTS3000] that has been programmed by CPS - the RSS will tell you that the codeplug is too new when you try to read the radio. BUT - if you have an archive file from that radio - a file with identical model number, serial number, and flashcode - load that into the RSS from disk and the RSS will put it back into the radio with no complaint at all.
We have done this MANY times.
If that doesn't work for you - something you have is corrupt - RSS, codeplug, and/or CPS. Certainly, it appears that the checksum digit of your radio's flashcode does not match what the CPS computes the checksum to be.

I can't say for sure and I know you say its non hacked, but I have seen radios where someone hacks the flashcode but not the feature set and CPS tosses this error.
Im going to PM you.

OK, this is wierd but it's working again so who cares?

I tried reading it with dos RSS and it's now able to read it. Last night, no go. Today, it works. I would like to use the CPS, since I paid for it, new features, etc... but it appears that ain't gonna happen for some reason. Thanks guys.
