Just looking for some helpfull advice from the wizards..

After programing my Saber II I'm finding that I am RXing all the channels just fine but cant TX on any of them. Anything I should be checking to correct this??

I'd start with the individual power setting for each channel.
They're individually controllable from zero to max power,
assuming you've set the channels to transmit and not as
"blank."

Starting from scratch from a completely blanked Saber is a
chore, no two ways about it, and it can take some time.

yup.... checked that as well....needs to be tuned maybe?

What frequency range are you programmed in?

Is this UHF or VHF?

If the radio is VHF, I'll bet you have the improper synthesizer for the frequency range you are programmed for.

Certain synthesizers will NOT allow tranmission far beyond the design of the module, and the NLD8201x is the main one that does not work past 152 Mhz transmit.

Look for the NLD8210x synthesizer and all associated components for the wider band split this module affords you, like the F.D.S, U5(under the receiver) as well as the PA module and the 2-pole filter to the left of the F.D.S on the upper right of the radio's frame.

The layout of the radio internally from left to right, and top to bottom is this:

Ref. Oscillator

Receiver(square module)

Two pole filter(small rectangular module)

Filter/Detector/Switch(F.D.S) (also rectangular in appearance, but seats higher and is taller than the 2-pole filter.

Syntheszer module(large square, silver module)

Power Amp module(gold/silver color, also rectangular) on the lower right of the frame, retained by three screws, two alongside and one below, on the board)

If secure capable:

Bypass module or encryption module takes up the lower section of the radio's frame.

Improper module selection will render transmission on certain frequencies impossible and all you you hear is the constant tone, which tells you the radio is out of lock due to 'illegal' channel programming.

VHF ...tx/rx between 150 to 165... it's letting me put all the freq. in with no problems and theres no tones on TX .... CP is in as HP 136-174 so maybe I will try a LP profile and see if that works?
If not I will do some surgery and report my findings back here.....

Sounds like a good idea, that way we have more information to use in localizing the trouble.

well so far... heres whats tickin .... receiver = NLD8180A, pa= 23A, FDS looks like NFD6112A44157 and there is no # on the synth. anywhere that I can see?...oh and there appears to be no DES/DVP module installed.

Do I need to put a jumper in without a DES/DVP?? I'm not concerned with secure anything..so it's not a big deal
