I am buying a PR1500 in about a month

2 questions,

1 after i buy the unit can i upgrade the radio to apco 25 later, also is it easy to monitor a conventional P25 freq on a motorola??

2 is there any complainants about bugs in the unit, also the good points would be good to hear as well

thanks

Yes it can be upgraded to a P25 Radio.
Cant see why it wouldn't be easy if you know the information it should just be a matter of programming

Finally the PR1500 is just another version of the XTS2500/1500 series portable, whilst I don't have any PR1500's I have hundreds of XTS2500 radios out there and about 100 XTS1500. I have never had a 1500 come back and only a few 2500 radios.

APCO 25

I had an PR1500 and it was an absolutely great radio. Ergonomics, feels, reception, and all of that stuff.

My only major qualm with it was the lack of visual indication that it was in scan mode.

Another viable alternative to that though is the MT1500 1.5. Gives you 16 more channels to play with and a display screen.

BTW.... what is the average cost of flashing the PR or MT 1500's to do IMBE P25 digital? Does it have to go back to the Motorola factory to do, or can one of the local shops do it if they have the right tools?

Some shops can, depending on whether they normally service high end gear.

Cool deal.

Now I need the ballpark figure of what it costs to do this?

I just had my Astro Saber II flashed q806 for P25 by local Mortorola Shop. Cost was $565.00. I figured it was not a bad deal since I paid $225 for the ASII on Ebay.

Ehhh................. $565.00 huh? That's a little steep, but I guess it is what it is..................

I have a 1500 that I am ready to get flashed. I just need to find someone to do it for me............. 8)
