I've been looking at the PR860 specs vs. HT750 specs. I'm curious what others have to say about each.
1. What are the major differences between the PR860 and HT750?
2. Are the accessories compatible?
3. Do they use the same battery packs?
4. Why does the PR860 exist at all while there are other models that may do just as well? (Does M have too many models in the same market?)
5. How well does the PR860 hold up to everyday use and abuse, compared to the HT750?
6. Any big difference in price of PR vs. HT?
I have an investment in HT1250s and have the RSS (legitimately from M). That's a big incentive to stick with the HT750/HT1250/CDM series over the long haul but I'm curious about the PR series and the PR860.
TIA.

The research I have done reveals this. I don't like the VHF HT750/1250, they have to many self quieting freq's. The HT1550 is just about the same as an HT1000. When you look at the self quieting freq's it looks like the 1550 and 1000 are the same on the VHF,. The PR860 is basically an HT1550 with no screen or keypad. It will kick the hell out of an HT750. The CPS for the PR860 is only about a 100 buck so it's not bad. All the the 750,1250, and 860 run the same firmware.
Just my thoughts.

From searching on Motorola Online (MOL), I looked at the battery packs and accessories listed for the HT750/HT250 and PR860 portables. The PR860 appears to use the same accessories and battery packs! That answers one of my questions. The other stuff I'm wondering about is how well the PR860 holds up to real world use and abuse compared to the HT750 and HT1250 portables. I'm also wondering about any major performance differences (RF Tx/Rx, audio output/quality, etc.). I'm curious what fellow Batlabbers on the Batboard have to say about the PR860 compared to the HT750 and HT1250 portables.

Have been selling the heck out of the PR860 here locally. The major features which were decision making points were:
-same accessories as HT750/1250 ( chargers,mics,headsets,car chargers)
-lighter weight due to different housing composite material
-Impres smart charger and battery as standard item with all models
-improved audio on receive and send
-improved range in most instances ( lowband,VHF,not sure of UHF)
MSRP on HT750/1250/1550 just went up 2 months ago,so it is easier to sell PR860 right now.Motorola currently having a trade up promotion on Impres chargers and batteries also helps when working with current 750/1250 users also.

Thanks! This is the kind of general information I'm looking for.
What about RSS? I suspect it requires a different RSS than the HT750/HT1250/CDM750/CDM1250 radios use.

You guessed it. The CPS for the PR860 looks very similar to that of the commercial series line of radios, but it's not the same.
