When programming a mobile radio, does it have to have 12v power as if it was in the car, or does all it need is to be attached to the programming cable?

Thanks, I guess I'll have to find a converter. What do you guys use?

This is an M1225 btw.

I'm not sure about the M1225's current requirement in receive, but you could use something as simple as a small 12v battery to a wall adapter, but that would only be good for receive and programming, don't transmit with that arrangement.

I used to have a 2 amp 13.8v wall adapter that i would use for powering HT's with battery eliminators for doing the same thing, then i finally put another 25amp power supply on the work bench for that.
