Need info fast working on getting an M1225 on, 25 watt 4 ch M1225, what is the range of watts(power) it can be programmed to transmit on.

it will vary by each radio and is set via the RSS. you will need a watt meter to test with as the values in RSS are strictly numerical and you cannot correlate them to a real world translation (going from 130 to 120 may yield a significantly smaller reduction in power as compared with going from 120 to 110, or vice versa).

you can almost certainly crank up the power beyond 25w, but you will also be looking for a new PA shortly.

i've taken M1225s down to 10 watts for use in base station applications with nice antennas and clear line of sight to the repeater on the hill, but going any lower will end up in spurious transmissions and will degrade performance significantly.

You can probably program it to output anywhere from 0 to way over 25 watts. However, the rule of thumb for most wideband radios is that you shouldn't run them below about 1/3rd of their rated power due to spurious signals coming out of the power amplifier. Also you don't want to set it higher than its rated power for similar reasons. Some radios will lower the power if they sense the unit is getting too hot, but that's merely to protect itself.

You still need a wattmeter and dummy load to set the power via the software. But you CAN set it almost anywhere, legal or otherwise.

Thanks everyone! I got it off Ebay with powersupply, base mic, and antenna for $112.50!! I am going to pick it up hopefully tonight or later this week.
