I'm looking for an updated version of the flash code decoder document. Someone please PM or email this to me.
I know that the old value for GE Star now represents FPP, however, I don't know the difference in flash for q52 and q53. Although I have most of the binary values memorized, i'm bored and i'd like to write a small little windows app for batlabbers to decode flash codes real quick while lookin at stuff on ebay without having to refer to the php decoder on radio reference. If I can't find an updated document, i'll just use the old flash.doc on batlabs.

I've been adding the new Astro25 flashcode options to my decoder as I learn about them.
If you put all F's in for each class of radio you can get a full readout of what it has.

Yup. Thanks to all that replied.
I'm gonna use the information to build some APPS, however, does anyone know what the difference between q52 and q53 equates to in terms of motorola flash codes? Is there a difference? I've never seen a dongle-based 2500 or 5000, so I wouldn't know.

Ok, so, I've got an app I threw together, but I was trying to decide on an ICON for the Window, It probably wouldn't be too safe to be using an ICON from CPS wouldn't you say? I don't want one of those cheesy icons on this....

What are your opinions about an icon...

Take the ICON, and change it 10% - add something, delete something, change a few colors. I know that if you change a patented item by 10%, you do not infringe on the patent anymore.
Send me a beta copy - thanks bud

I just put in FFFFFF-FFFFFF-F to see what all the options were. And this gave me an idea that I've never seen in any of the flashcode decoders:
Is it possible to do this backwards? I'd click off checkboxes for IMBE, Digital ID Display, and MODAT, and it'd spit out the flashcode for those options? It doesn't sound like it'd be too hard if people have them figured out, but I've never seen it offered.
Akardam, that page is great. Thanks!

Creating a flashcode by checking the options you want would be pretty easy. It's the checksum bit at the end that's the tricky part - I've never heard a concrete way to calculate it, though I'm sure there are folks out there in labland who know how to do it.
Of course you still have the non-trivial task of getting your designer flashcode into the radio, but I won't go there...

well whatever. my program just ignores is because it isn't relevant to your interest in a particular radio or flash anyways, it just makes sure that one exists to complete the flashcode. its not important for this project, however it would have been nice to know....

Maybe I'm dense, but if you're creating a flashcode and not making sure the checksum bit is correct, what's the point?

I think he was talking about doing it the normal way--if you're taking a flashcode and listing features, you really don't care what the checksum bit is.
When taking features and listing a codeplug from it, it would be good to get the checksum correct, although I'm not sure it's essential. (I'm also not sure what the use is--I only asked because I'd be curious.)

Ah. Thought he was talking about an encoder.
My decoder already ignores the checksum. Since I can't calculate one in the first place there isn't much point in trying to see if it's correct.

Yeah that's what I meant akardam. I'm gonna post the application for everyone right now in the Astro forum.
