I have 1 out of 10 HT1000 when the radio is on scan it sounds a short beep every few seconds or so. The other 9 were cloned and I read one that doesnt beep and cloned that to the one in question and still no results. No problem, just annoying and confusing. Any ideas? Thanks

battery problem?

cloning don't transfer all of the functions and settings so you may have to go thru the original one and write down everything and then compare it to each one. it could be a low battery beep as posted earlier.

I knew it doesnt transfer all the functions/settings, battery is ok. Just didnt know if someone knew of a certain setting that may cause that.

'priority channel marking'

It sounds like a priority channel setting. Someone can correct me if I am wrong...but you can setup priority channel one of two ways. 1. "Floating" so wherever the channel selector is (i.e. channel 3, 4, 5, etc.) that is the priority channel. So when the radio senses something on that channel it will beep then go to that particular channel where the selector is while there is traffic, then revert back to scan. and option 2...you can designate a specific channel as a priority channel. so let's say channel 2 is the one you assign as priority...when ever you go to scan mode (regardless of where the channel selector is, when something is sensed on channel 2, the radio will beep and stay there until there is no more traffic. then revert back to scan. For ham use, the first option is better because for an event you may have one main repeater you are using and several others as backups. For more serious usage, option two is better because you can designate a particular channel that will always be priority so you can still listen to traffic on other channels but when a carrier is sensed on your main channel, the radio will always go back to it regardless of where the channel selector is. I think this feature is available on revision C or later. I don't think it was available on A or B revisions but I might be wrong. Another option used in conjuction with priority scan is the length of time the radio will stay on that priority channel before going back to scan after the carrier has dropped. Which I think is in milliseconds.

Scan resume time is selected in RSS to keep a priority channel on that channel for a pre-selected time period after the carrier drops, then returns to 'scan' after that time has elapsed.

Most of those settings are in seconds though.
