Hi, i have 3 spectras that i want to use compact maxtrac mics on. i dont like the big mics. is there a way to say cut the connector of the mic cord and hook it to a rj45 wall jack, then i can plug my compact mic in? i got the concept but i wonder if anybodys done this, and if so if there is a pin out of what pins on the spectra go to what on the compact mic?

The MaxTrac mic jack pinout is definitely in the model-specific section of BatLabs. I don't think that info is present for the Spectra, but you might find it on Mike Blenderman's site: http://www.open.org/~blenderm/spectra/index.html

Your idea should work, but I'd hate to cut a perfectly good mic cable. If you open the mike, the wires should be easy to remove from the guts inside without chopping it off. Unfortunately, I don't know of a source of Spectra mike plugs other than the ones that are pre-molded to the cables.

I agree; the smaller palm-mikes on MaxTracs are a lot more comfortable to use.

Ok, Thanks for the info. I am going to get some old mics from my work. we have a box full of them for various different radios.

If you are talking about the small white ones (I have one in my hand with model # HMN1056D), they have a 6 conductor RJ11 jack on the mic itself. You have to take something small and pointy and stick it in the small hole on the rear of the mic right by where the cable plugs in. Use it to push down on the RJ11 connector's tab while pulling out on the cable and it should come right out.

Hopefully you won't have to take the microphone apart as they are *very* hard to open (no screws).

No I mean the HMN1035 the big white mic. i dont like the big white mics i would rather use the compact white maxtrac mic.
