Saber III and Priority Channel PL during scan

I have a 6D Saber III and the scan mode uses the PL/DPL settings on all channels during scan EXCEPT my priority channel. it just automattically CSQ's it.

A Side note, How do I turn off the PTT Beep and Priority Discover Beep?

Too bad the Saber drops PL on scan, especially if you have MDC enabled as it causes falsing of the PL tones, and if you use MDC, this is one more reason you can't scan any PL tones that are on active channels.

As for the PTT 'beep' on transmit, all you need to do is disable all sidetones, or disable the secure or TMSS switch in the F4 radio options list.

The sound you hear on PTT press, is the secure being active even if you are not secure equipped or have a working module installed, and this can be disabled from the radio options menu, and you should no longer hear that tone when you key the radio.

The one oddity of the standard Saber is that it does not scan the priority channel with an active PL, it strips this off to allow faster receive response.
Call it a quirk if you will, but it's a design flaw as far as I am concerned.

Not to mention that even the 8K CORE does not have the processing speed or ability to scan active channels wih PL enabled and do so efficiently and with a fast enough response time, so it 'conveniently' strips the PL during scan.

The Systems Sabers do not do this, they scan PL'd channels just fine, but the main memory is also greater as well, and is designed to scan PL'd channels as the controller functions faster due to the trunked capability, so it's attack timing has to be faster to prevent data loss.

So even though I don't have MDC the PL Scan is stripped? Wow, Thats not good for my area at all.

The PL is stripped due to the slow attack time of the PL processor.

Since that model is from the late 1980's, the circuits are nowhere as fast as more modern digital components, and with a far slower clock timing, you have serious lag built in as well.

The decoder can't decode fast enough to allow the scan function to operate at maximum speed and still decode the proper tone/s, so something had to give....they stripped off the PL during scan.

Astro Sabers and the Jedi line radios will priority scan with PL/DPL. Anything older than that I've not seen do it. Most likely due to what AEC wrote.
