Hi all,
I went to a demo of NH's Project 54 last night and the fire marshall said the radio was an astro but it cover different bands, etc. Does the remote head serve two seperate radios, such as UHF/VHF?

If your question is: Can two astro radios be controlled by a single head? Then yes, it is possible and in a dual-radio setup, usually multiple bands are covered (VHF/UHF, VHF/800.... whatever is needed).

I believe that NH's use is 800 MHz only.

Astro Spectra dual radio comes in a couple of flavors:

Dual Radio HHR - W7 or W9 radios. Primary radio can tx/rx. 2nd radio RX's ONLY. No TX what-so-ever. Any W7/W9 radio can be configured this way, but both need to be the same head type, and just add the dual radio cable.

Dual Radio HHCH - Radio uses the hand held control head that looks the same as the Syntor X9000, Spectra HHCH. Both radios TX/RX. Requires the use of a SIU (good luck finding one) and associated cables. Popular with the three letter agencies.

Dual Radio W3 - Ultra rare, but been reported by reliable people that it exists. Uses the Astro Spectra W3 head and can TX/RX on both radios. I have never personally seen it, but a couple of people I trust tell me its out there.

Dual Radio W9 - See above. Someone once mentioned it exists as well for 3 letter agencies. The person who mentioned that works for one of them.

Or, just to be even more simple, he guy may have an XTL5000 that is a dual band 700/800 radio, which isn't considered a dual radio setup. I haven't played with the P54 software n some time, so I don't know if its been modded to allow multiple radios to be displayed in one radio window.

Stupid question--what's NH? I assumed it was my home state, but I can't imagine that kjfswkr would have come up from Arizona to view our radio system. (Mostly P25 CAI over conventional VHF.)

NH is for New Hampshire. My wife and I recently moved here from AZ. Need to update my profile. As for frequencies I know some of the PD's, FD's he showed us in this Project 54 car were vhf and uhf.

New Hampshire is 99% VHF Hi Band. NHSP Vehicles on only have VHF Hi band radios iinstalled.

NH State Fire Marshal operates on the NHSP infastructure.

Law Enforcement is 90% P-25

Fire is 95% Analog.

A couple of cities (Manchester and Nashua) using 800 trunking. Nashua is 800Mhz 3600Baud CC with FD and PD Digital and the rest of city services analog. Manchester is EDACS I think.

NH State Hightway is UHF

NH State EM is VHF LB.
