Enabling 850 Personalities in an XTS5000

Hey guys I'd really appreciate some help, A few XTS5000 Model 3's came back from Moto today and they have been flashed with R08.00.10 (I believe thats the HOST firmware and I also believe its the latest?) and we are trying to workout how to get 850 Personalities/Talkgroups out of them instead of 512... Anyone know how? Someone mentioned to me that you need a Codeplug from a radio that already has 850 Personalities but I cant see how that would be right with the serial number not being the same etc... Any ideas? Should CPS allow me to have 850 now?
Thanks

As long as your HOST is R07.00.00 or above, the CPS will show 850 chans on the 5K, and you will have access to them. Who ever told you that you need a codplug from another radio is blowing some smoke your way.

Hey Marc,
Interesting bit about that 'smoke' that was blown his way is I was told exactly the same thing, by the Motorola Service Manager!
Maybe they need to check these boards more often themselves!

You hit the nail on the head. There is definatly more useful information on this board than you will ever get out of some "M" people.

I think the original poster is saying he has firmware version 8.00.00 and can still only create 512 personalities.
I haven't dealt with any of the higher (7.00.00+) firmware versions yet, so I can't say. I find it strange that Motorola would make it so easy to get another 300+ channels by allowing them with a simple firmware refresh. Extra channel capacity was always a factory ordered and/or FLASH option for the other radio platforms (MTS/MCS/XTS3000/Astro Spectra, etc).

I guess the question now is what version CPS is he using if it doesn't show the 850. If it's an old one it won't show the extended channels above 512.

Nah all is good, at the time of posting I didn't have access to both CPS and the radios, when the Moto guys told me such a thing I thought I should post on here to clarify... I did think it was a bit strange though... What good would another radios CP do??? The serial number would not be the same! Unless of cause ASTRO25 LAB was on the table but I seriously doubt it! HAHA thanks again guys!

How do you find 800+ frequencies to cram in there?

Very true. Useful for large wide area trunking, but then again, that's a lot of zones and channels to scroll thru!

HAHA Easy! One zone alone has 170+ channels in it (Thank god they ain't model 2s!)...They add up real fast! Making a change is a bit of a pain though... Rubix cube time!
