I would like to know if, generally speaking, it's possible to add the siren amp and controls to a Syntor X?

Yes there is a siren amp that can be added to the Syntor X.

You have to have the right control cable to go with the control head with the board for the siren/external radio/pa functions. I'm getting ready to post a complete unit for sale over on fleabay.

Thanks. Would a similar thing apply to an X9000?

No. The X9000 head is already siren-ready provided you have the buttons available to program for that feature. You would just need the 1185 siren amp box and the necessary cable (hard to find and usually pricey) to use the X9000 siren. On the X, you have to find a siren control board for the Systems 90-S head stack and wire that up into the cable mess behind the heads.

With the Syntor X 9000 HLN1185 Siren/PA, the HKN4246A (for the HLN1185A) T-cable or HKN4246A (for later revisions of the HLN1185B, C, etc.) T-cable the Siren/PA is a matter of programming the radio and head. There is also some internal configuration for getting the speaker power rating to match the Siren/PA output level.

The Syntor X 9000 Siren/PA requires a Systems 9000 radio system to work. It cannot work all by itself as a stand alone unit.
The Syntor X uses different color 22 pin connectors and wiring on the control head side of the radio cable for different control heads.

Unless you have a a Syntor X Siren/PA manual (part # 6881108E05) getting an already wired cable is the best choice. The Syntor X requires a special Siren/PA control head and an external amplifier box (there is a special cable to connect the amplifier to the head). You need an HLN4235 control head back plate, one of the various Siren/PA control head boards, TKN6754 amplifier cable and TRN1691 amplifier.

(search for “siren” on the above page)
The Syntor X Siren/PA can work as a stand alone unit.
