Batboard

This securenet module (I think it is?) came along with a pre-owned UHF 403-433 band split Systems Saber III. It was installed on the same spot where securenet module is placed.

I tried to ask my friend Mr. Google about this encryption module, but got no hits at all.

As far as I know, this module has not been used by its previous owner, so there's no knowing it this one actually worked at all. At the moment I'm still lacking a KVL-Saber cable, so I haven't been able to check what this module has in it..

Does anyone in this board know what encryption type this module supports?

I have no clue, I cant find it on MOL either.... I know a NTN5833B is DES same module as NTN4712A and NTN1072A.

and

DES-XL, NTN5835x, NTN4714x, NTN1071x, NTN1081x

im not firmiliar.

Since it is in Europe it may be something specificly for there. Thats why it may not be in MOL .

Since you aren't in the United States, it'd be very interesting to see how it managed to make it's way over there. You can pretty much forget about loading it though, it takes some rather special equipment to do such a thing - equipment that isn't available unless you're a 3 letter agency.

Haha, it seems that people - especially US citizens - are still afraid to say FASCINATOR.

Well, after asking from a local fellow ham and searching this site I found that it is indeed an F* module. And also I found that it requires a lot of other appliances to get it keyed.

Well, I'll get rid of this module and replace it with des-xl module. Then it works with other sabers that I already own.

Thanks for all of you that have posted about fascinator before on this board, since it really helped me to find out what it was.

FWIW, the Fascinator modules I've seen have 'CCI' next to the model number. Kinda neat.

For what it's worth, the standard Sabers required the surgery to make the FASCINATOR encryption module operable, whereas the Systems models did not.

There were also pin cuts that had to be made to specific modules as well in order to allow them to function in a FASCINATOR encrypted radio(emphasis mine).

The part number for the retro kit are these:

NTN1089A, which supplies the NTN7298 encryption module and the information needed to field modify a SABER SECURENET radio to include the H796 option.

The SIB(Secure Interface Box),TKN-5164 and the TKN8516x keyloader cable for use with either the KOI-18 or the KYK-13 government keyfill device(GFD).
