It says it's NLA on MOL whats with that? Is their a replacement part I'm not aware of?

Anyone got suggestions on a Linear that would suit?

I'd be down right shocked if /\/\ ever designed and manufactured an external RF Power Amplifier that covered from 403 through 470 MHz continuously 67 MHz Frequency Coverage in one model number or unit. Maybe it would be better if you supplied the actual operating frequency that you need to amplify.

Seeing the Model # NLE1784 would indicate that this RF Power Amplifier would cover above 470 MHz also known as the UHF "T" Band.

I think these are made by TPL and not Motorola. I can check into that when I return to work on monday if no one else knows for sure.

I have an NLE8911A2 403-420 that works fine on ham freqs, 5w in gives 20+w out with no noticeable change in the VSWR. I also have an NLD7702A 150.8-174 that also works fine on ham freqs, 5w in gives 50 +/- out. Both of these units are for MVA use, it would appear that these little PA's are a bit more broadbanded than the particular radios they were meant for.

OK - Just cut open a sealed box from moto that was shipped along with the XTVA XTS holder/controller unit. Its labeled on the outside of the box NLE4267A and its a TPL mobile amp model PA6-1ABH 450-512Mhz marked in pen as optimized for 450-520Mhz. 1-5W input & 7-45W output.
FCC type acceptance no BBD6-1AB-H. Brand new & nice mobile amps. They have mini-uhf connectors for the rf in/out and the typical jones plug for power that come on most TPL mobile amps. Hope this sheds some light on the subject...

Does this RF Amp come built into the XTVA which would mean it would have to be specially ordered with the XTVA or could this amp be added later? Anyone have any ideas?

Can you post a pic of the PA, or maybe just give an approximation of the dimensions and weight? Oracle lists the weight being .06lbs at Motorola, obviously thats bull-hooey

The XTVA holder unit and TPL manufactured RFPA are seperate units and are connected via a typical RG-58 style cable. I usually mount the XTVA holder unit on the hump in front of the front passenger seat (if a bench seat) and mount the amp in the trunk. The amp is a typical TPL PA6 mobile amp. Do a google or ebay search and you can usually find one to view a pic.
The amp can always be added at a later date if not initially installed but you will have to reroute the antenna rf cable that comes out of the XTVA holder unit to where you will mount the amp and install an rf cable from the XTVA to the amp. The amp uses mini uhf connectors for the rf input/output and a jones plug style 4 pin connector for the ground & +12vdc.

If anyone is interested the TPL PA6 measurements are 7.5" L x 3.75" W x 2.5" H and weighs 1.5 lbs. It installs easily and the heat sink should be clear of obstruction for best cooling. I also install the large ground braid if possible even though it is perhaps over kill. The complete kit set includes the following:

Does anyone know where I can buy a jones plug FAST or give the pin-out configuration for the power plug on the RFPA as I just had my new 380-470Mhz RFPA turn up today and silly me thought that it would come with the correct plug. So I may have to end up soldering my connections until I can get a jones plug. Cheers

Digi-Key part number P-304H-CCT-ND

I am pretty sure that each pair is shorted together, one pair is ground and the other is +13.8VDC
bot not sure which is which. Use a Ohm meter and find the two pins on the unit that are ground
and the other two must be +13.8VDC

EDIT: Sorry - the above part number is the opposite gender of what you need. If you call Digi-Key
at 800-344-4539 they should be able to figure out the correct number and help you.
