GP300 HELP NEEDED

Hi All
As a newbie is there any sites that explain the basics of motorola programming ?
What I realy want to know is after programming is there any setting up inside the radio IF stages etc. And I have seen details on how to enter hex for extra channels but nothing showing how to input frequencies, Is this self explanatory in the RSS program for GP300
PLEASE SAY IF I AM ASKING FOR INFO THAT IS NOT GIVEN ON THESE BOARDS AS I HAVE HAD NO DETAILED REPLIES
We all start off a newbie please help if you can
