Constant beep when programming

When I programmed my MTS2000 tonight to modify the scan lists and zones, where the radio usually gives a short beep and says prog, I got a constant beep. I let it go and it did finish and restart the radio. Everything seems fine with the radio, and I have had no problems. Before I program this radio again, I want to solve this. Could it be the RIB battery is low? Thanks, Ryan

Mine does it now and then. It's best to adjust the volume to it's lowest setting before you do any programming as once it starts it's beeping, there's no way to turn the volume down.

Its a great way to anoy other people in the shop as once you start the volume control is useless

I was programming an MTX8000 at a friend's place once. He got annoyed with the beep and went to turn the volume down - while in a write cycle - well, he turned the radio off. I wasn't impressed

I've also had that happen a couple times on a Ht1250 and HT1550. Like everybodu else says, it happens from time to time. Follow their advice about turning down the volume before programming and that's about all you can do.

Thanks for the replies. I did notice that the volume becomes useless once it starts to write. Glad to know nothing is wrong on my end. Thanks again.

Hmm, I always thought it was a firmware-revision thing.
My MTS with 1.42 firmware (up yours, toolproofing!) will either stay quiet, beep, or spit out static while reading and/or writing, and will occasionally do a full reset during the first second or two of read/write and display FAIL 01/92 until the final reset.
