XTS5000 Question

I have a model I VHF XTS5000. Can it be changed/modified/upgraded somehow to a model II or model III? If I plug in a model II display/limited keypad front will it work? If not, can something be done to make it work? While I'd like to have the additional modes offered in the model II/III I'd be happy with the original 48 modes AND a display with modes, aliases, and menus on it.

The short and unfortunate answer is no. This was an option with the XTS3000 but because there is no way to change the codeplug from a model I to a model II/III the keypad and display will not function.

Yep, it's true, I too, have heard that the 5k's are hack-proof.
