Battery Life on XTS3000 in Digital Mode

Is there a Major diffrence in how long a battery should last when using the radio in P25, rather then Conv.?

I can't tell. My XTS3 K with DSP/HOST 8 with the standard 1500 nicad is about 12-14 hours of RX with very few keyups. If the radio is used with alot of talking or mode changes/affiliations, it's more like 7 to 8 hours...this is with it on an analog Smartnet II system or a P25 system. It eats batteries alot more than an MTS2000 but hey there's alot more going on inside.

If you are talking trunking absolutly as there is an auto power adaptation field which reduces the power when rx is good
On P25 conventional I dont think its an option so power drain is probably ever so slightly higher but I sort of doubt it makes any difference

You can select adaptive power on conventional P25 also.

Your right I looked today, I guess it is designed for more a repeater type set up than portable to portable
