I habe a gp300 uhf 16ch with and rx problem, the radio does not have rx at all untill you key the ptt, monitor, or option buttom on the radio. After you key any of the buttoms radio performs Rx with out problems.
Tx is ok all times
Thanks

When the radio is supposed to be receiving (but is not) is the monitor light blinking detecting the carrier as it should ?

Sounds like you have RX Signalling enabled and need to disable the RX on SIGNAL only, its in the options menu of the signaling used.

I reccommend sending it to one of us on here that can check the radio out.. Normally jsut paying shipping both ways will be good for us.
Im capable of it if you want to.

You may have the "forced monitor" turned on in the RSS/programming of the GP300. Pressing the PTT puts the radio into carrier sq. receive.

As Will states, forced monitor will place the radio in a 'different' state that requires a button press, but only then will the radio allow you to hear traffic....simply deselect FORCED MONITOR and reprogram and you should be good to go.
NOTE: You should also have normal MONITOR button use afterwards as well, so the receiver will open on button press but will not affect PLs programmed or actual channel reception in either PL/DPL or CSQ operation.

I did that already, I turned the forced monitor Off and ON but the problem still. Radio has very good Rx 0.3 Micro Volts. But always have to press a monitor buttom to make it received, that after turn force monitor off. if force monitor is on pressing any buttom on radio will receive. remember radio has proper PL set.
