Dashmount XTL5000 7/800 mHz and VRS???

We have dashmount type XTL5000 7/800 mHz units installed in the consoles of our vehicles and from reading about the VRS units, it seems they work with the trunk mounted radios.
Will the current VRS units work with a dashmount type radio?
We are looking to use a vrs setup to put out the 7/800 radio to our UHF (460mz) handhelds.
Any Thoughts?
Thanks,
JJ Smith

The XTL2500 must be remote mounted (from experience)and I just looked through the price pages for the XTL5000.
every thinhg with DEK says G67(remote mount) and no W3 control heads.
Huh?

We have W5 head XTL5000 radios, dashmount type in the console. No DEK.
Thanks,

DASH TO REMOTE MOUNTING KIT H1804
less than $400
What I would do is upgrade to the 05 head, and remote at the same time.
I guess it depends on your budget for the project.
Dont reinvent the wheel though. Motorola even sell these and the XTL series is meant to work great with them

From my experience as well, yes, you must remote mount a XTL5000 or Astro Spectra to interface a Futurecom unit. The unit interfaces between the drawer and the control head.
Not compatible with the 2500, AFAIK

The analog Futurecom VRS (MOBEXCOM) works with the following REMOTE MOUNT mobiles
XTL5000 with W4,W5,W7 or W9 head
Astro Spectra or Spectra Plus with W4,W5,W7 or W9 head
MCS2000
The digital (P25) DVRS works only with the REMOTE MOUNT XTL5000 with O5 head (remote mount XTL2500 with M5 head to follow)
The analog unit interfaces on the SB9600 bus between mobile and control head. The P25 unit interfaces on the DB25 connector on the remote mount O5.
Cost for digital and analog is about the same.
