X9000 HHCH

Okay, here's the problem...

I have a low band X9000 with SIU and one securenet physical housing.

No matter what I do, I can't get past an 05-90 error.

I have tried dual drawer firmware, single drawer firmware, 128 channel firmware and some other unidentified stuff.

I can program the drawer, program the SIU and everything completes correctly. Am not doing anything strange here, just trying to make this thing pass self check.

What is the correct firmware for the drawer? Am using proper 7.04sp RSS.

Is there a special firmware version for the SIU? I have 2.01. This came from a Spectra but I also have a 1.01 or something like that in version 1. Does this make a difference? No matter which one I use, I don't get a change.

Is there any special configuration that has to be done such as plugging the radio into radio two on the SIU or is it okay to have one radio with physical security housing plugged into the radio one jack?

This is a known good radio that has been programmed and works fine with the standard control head.

Any ideas?

You might want to take a look at the site http://www.batlabs.com
and go look under the Spectra section. At the tail end
of the Spectra section they provide some of the error codes.

You should find that the 05/90 error code is a serial
bus problem between the radio and the control head.

You also mention that you have a lowband X9000
with a SIU box and the securenet box connected.
That is a strange combination. Most of the radio
combos that I have seen and heard of use the SIU
with a dual radio setup using a pair of Spectra
radios, the securenet boxes and the siren package.
One is on VHF and one is on UHF.

I have a number of these combos and have modded
them for use with out the securenet box and using
only the VHF Spectra with no siren. Once you get
them working, they work great. You just need to
turn off the securenet box, make a new cable to
go between the radio and the SIU.

I wonder if someone hasn't put the wrong radio
on the combo you have. Has it ever worked or is
this a new attempt to getting a newly accquried
radio working?

I appreciate your commentary and the pointer to the Spectra information.

I received this accessory group without any radios and it was set up as a dual drawer VHF/UHF with HHCH type arrangement.

The 05-90 error is exactly why I was asking what firmware version(s) people are using with their HHCH X9000 setups, because, as you indicated, it shows a communication problem between the head and the drawer other than an 01-90 error which indicates complete loss of serial communications. In addition, since I can program both the SIU and the drawer with the same standard X9000 programming cable, I would tend to conclude that the serial bus is not the issue as communications works both ways, that is, it can read and write.

Also, since this accessory group was intended for X9000, I would also conclude that it makes no difference what radio is on the other end as it, first, works and secondly, the same personality board is in use in UHF or VHF drawer, therefore bringing me again to the question of:

What firmware is in the drawer and what firmware version is in the HHCH?

I am reluctant to be cutting up cables to remove the secure physical housing at this point because I would rather get the original setup to work before making new cables and introducing new problems.

Time for me to do some more digging. I just wish my other car was here right now because I could grab a test drawer out of it.

I am not sure you can use the A3 HHCH on the
radio you have. It was made to operate with the
Spectra. Never had an X9000 to play with so can't
be sure.

I do know that you need the DES box connected to
the radio before you can disable it in the RSS. Same
thing doesn't matter if the siren is there or not. That
will let you go in and modify the configuration if it is
there or not.

I do have an Excel file that I made to re-do the
cables from the DES box to go between the SIU
and the Spectra. Not sure if it is the same with
the X9000 or not. They are DB25 connectors, so
it isn't anything hard to do. Just takes some time
and a soldering iron.

Your going to have to find someone more involved
than me for the X9000 info.

I can help on the Specrtra and some of the SIU
issues. I have had several of the SIU boxes go
bad on me. They fail and you can't power the radio
up. It is a simple fix by cutting a lead on one of
the surface mount IC's inside it. The IC is used for
a voltage monitor. Seems there is a weak side of
the design. The part that fails is the section that
monitors the +12 volts DC.

I have seen the A3 HHCH display strang channel
info from some of the SIU boxes. Yhis is steared
by the SIU software. There is an SIU software
RSS, but I haven't been able to make it play. It
keeps bombing on my computer when I try to
run it. I have been told that it needs a very
slow computer to run. I have tried it on several
real slow computers and they all do the same
thing with the RSS. The slowest one I have is 25 MHz.
