How can i tell if i have a Astro Spectra that some one has forced a codeplug with IMBE enabled into a radio that is flashed with ANALOG-ONLY firmware.
If i do the sevice test with the home button, and see no DSP,FlashCD,would that be a sign?

As i have been on a learning curve with this radio and have posted many questions regarding it ,i would like thank all who have been patient with all my posts.
I'm still learning.
I have listed everything that comes up in the severice mode, all so, i have posted 2 pic's of the V board as early posted and 1 pic of the back of the actual radio.
I was sold this radio off ebay Item number: 290013841728
Since i'm still reading up on the astro radios,i think i have learned my first lesson.
Service Mode:
1-AMR0701
2-M050018
3-CNTLHD29
4-D04UJF9P
5-WSAN
6-Serial# 5409AZA0400
7-RF TEST
Thats all.
I'm sure the feedback will not be good.
Thanks
Max

Well, for starters -

in value #1: You have an A - which means that your radio will only support analog, unless flash upgraded for digital.

While the back of the radio says 1 Meg, it looks to me from test mode that you infact, have only a 512k vocon. The photos show two flash chips, so that means 2x256k = 512k.

Depending on what you paid for the radio, an extra $100 to KB9KST on the board here would probably get you a 1mb vocon, if he has any left. Swap that out, and you'd end up having an IMBE capable radio (at least hardware wise. Software: that's a whole other ball game.)

Not a super horrible investment.

If you look at the serial numbers, the one from the radio is diff then from the rear tag.

The pics of the VOCON indicate it is 1 MEG not 512K for starters. I have answered that one in the past for Max several times.

Now to decipher the test mode info:

1-AMR0701 - Very old HOST indicative of a VSELP era radio
2-M050018 - M indicates it is analog DSP only
3-CNTLHD29 - Control Head firmware version ( I think )
4-D04UJF9P - Model # Info
5-WSAN - Rest of Model # infor
6-Serial# 5409AZA0400 - Self Explanatory
7-RF TEST

PLEASE NOTE: Early versions of host never displayed the flashcode. Even some IMBE 1 meg vocons with old HOST will not display the flashcode. Just because it doesn't display it doesnt mean its a 512K board. IT COULD BE EITHER.

Max, get your board upgraded with newer host/dsp.

So to answer your original post:
How can i tell if i have a Astro Spectra that some one has forced a codeplug with IMBE enabled into a radio that is flashed with ANALOG-ONLY firmware.
Determine the host/dsp as it defines whether a radio will do analog/vselp/imbe and then determine the flashcode to see if the correct option is enabled.
If i do the sevice test with the home button, and see no DSP,FlashCD,would that be a sign?
NO

My bad. Go with what Jason says.

One of my main concerns is that the serial number of the C/P does not match the rear tag.

The fact that the serial number and flashcode on the rear tag do not match the codeplug in the radio means the radio codeplug has been changed from the original it was shipped with.

The radio came with a VERY basic IMBE flashcode. The fact that it was an IMBE flashcode also tells me that the VOCON probably is not the original it was shipped with since the HOST/DSP currently in the radio will not suport IMBE.

My suggestion--->Have the hos/dsp uplifted in the vocon and have "new" codeplug created to match the radio as best as it can. Also get the radio tuned.
