Does anyone have any experience with this option? What exactly does it do and how does it function?

I've heard that it keeps track of firefighters on the fireground, but I'd like to hear more details.

Thanks,

Tom

Thanks Marc. The link you posted was helpful, but short on the technical details I'm looking for.

I'm wondering anyone on the board has actually used this feature and/or knows how it operates. Some things I'd like to find out are:

-Does it use MDC or other signalling to register the radio with the incident commander?

-Does registration occur with a button press, or by simply dialing to the fireground channel (the sales info implies the latter, but doesn't really say)

-Will it work on a trunking system?

-the sales info suggests that both emergency alarm and evacuation tone are supported. From what I've seen, both of these features utilize the orange button. Can they both co-exist? If so, how?

Thanks again,

Tom

It works now on our trunking system with XTS5000 radios and our XTL2500 mobiles

To send an emergency call/alarm press the orange button
To send an evacuation tone, key up and press the orange button.

I believe the fireground works on conventional only

Those features are NOT specific to the Fireground Accountability option. Any XTS should be capable of the evacuation tone (my XTS3000s were) as well as MDC/SmartZone/P25 emergency call (depends on flash). However, Q445 is not required for either of these.
