Syntor x9000 PL/CTCSS?? ...Need help!

I have a syntor x9000 and I have it programmed for a few ham bands with certain PL codes. I don't know why but I cannot access the repeaters with the PL codes I've programmed in. I've checked everything in the programming over and over and I can't seem to figure out why it's not working. I can receive fine, btw. There is also one repeater that I can access fine but it has no PL. Could it be a power or antenna issue? I have a wierd feeling that it may be a ground issue; but then why would I be able to access the repeater without the PL code?
I also have a Yaesu 2m radio that I used to make sure the repeaters are working normal and they are.
Any suggestions???

Sounds like you missed a step somewhere, or something is really wrong. Did you enable or trying to use the MPL feature?

A 'PL' deviation problem, check the accual PL deviation. Check if the DEV pots have been 'messed with'.

Yeah I tried using the MPL feature and it gave me the same results.

Ok I don't think it's a problem of the radio not producting a PL tone. I programmed frequency 144.330 simplex and tried to transmit and I get the same results that I do with the other frequencies. I don't think the radio is able to transmit that low. Is there anyway I can adjust the radio to transmit on all the ham bands? 144-148?

Have a portable radio in a couple rooms down, set it to receive on a freq that you have a PL Tone RX and TX on in the portable and the syntor...
TX on the Syntor, does the portable receive it with the proper PL? if not then its the PL Deviation, if it does, its something else.

Pop the top cover and see if the VCO Unlock light is coming on, it located near one of the shields on the RF board, with the front end of the radio facing you it would be about the middle of the left hand side.
Modifying the VCO, as Mike's website shows, is relatively easy. I have had a few VHF that would do the entire ham band without any problems, but i have had others that needed to be modified.
Not to nitpick, but why are you using 144.330 as a simplex frequency? Your down in the satellite portion of the band. Although APRS is down there too, 144.390.

Ya I eventually figured out what the problem was and what to do by reading Mike's page on the Syntor. I just picked 144.330 to see if it would work since it's pretty low and it didn't before I made the changes. Everything works the way I wanted it to now. Thanks for everyone's help. I'm sure there will be more questions to come.
