I have a CDM 1550 that will lock up after being on for less than 2 or 3 minutes. No controls work on the radio, you have to unplug it to turn it off. The squelch will sometimes open also..
Has any one experienced this problem ?
Is it a firmware and or software problem ?

On my work bench, and yes the heat sink gets very warm after about 5 minutes on.

When it works, does it put out proper RF power? It sounds like the RF amplifier is running all the time, if the radio is getting very warm after a few minutes. Are you able to measure current drain of the unit during standby/tx?

It will not transmit at all, light comes on ,no output. Current is at specs in receive.

what does the voltage drop to and the amp draw when you transmit? do you have an antennae hooked up to it? is it possible the antennae is grounded out? if not it needs a trip to the repair shop.

What is the current draw on standby? Sounds funny that the unit heats up agter 5 mins.
