Desktrac Question
Hi All,
I've got a UHF desktrac repeater that for some reason will not break squelch on my mobiles. I've checked it on the RSS and the TX/RX frequencies are correct as well as the PL codes. My mobiles and handhelds will only receive the signal from the repeater if I have them set for carrier squelch. When I have them set for the same PL code as the repeater, they can't hear it. I've been through the radios and the repeater, and all looks well. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Re: Desktrac Question
You might want to do a search on the PL issue
here. Remember something some time back
about the way the radio was programmed. Can't
think what the cause was at this time.

Hi All,
First... thanks for the responses. All help is appreciated.
Here's the model #'s of the TX/RX radios as read by the cpu.
TX #D44MJA7DA5_K
RX Same as above.
If memory serves me, these are Maxtracs.
Will, there's nothing in the RSS that shows ACC pin outs, unless they are external or I need to read the radio with Maxtrac RSS. The desktrac software has limited options. I did read it first with the Maxtrac Rss but didn't save it to the drive because it stated that I couldn't save it back to desktrac.
I haven't tried it with a local mic, but I can do that tonight to see if that works. I'm not the worlds best at this, but it has me stumped.
Thanks again,
Bundy

I'm not too sure that the repeater is transmitting the CTSS but it does key up both locally and remotely by handheld. The PL codes for both tx and rx are 5Z as depicted in the rss, but when you put one HT that is programmed with the same CTSS (tx/rx) and the other with 5Z tx and carrier squelch the repeater will not break the squelch on the one with PL, and can be heard on the other. The repeater pretty much works like it should as long as the HTs are programmed to receive by carrier squelch. It wouldn't be so much of a problem except the amount of skip we get from a city north of us.
You will need to 'read' the TX radio with the MaxTrac RSS.
Set up the Desktrac RSS, read the TX radio to be sure that the switch is in the correct position for the MAIN/TX radio.
Then use the Maxtrac RSS with the same cable/RIB combination from the DT RSS. Read the TX radio and double check the settings.
