MCS2000 programming problem

OK all you MCS2000 experts, what am I doing wrong.
Have the current version of RSS RVN4175U and can read
he radio just fine. When I try to write back to the radio
it gives a communications error. The message is:
Warning: Communications with radio failed
Press OH and try again.
next message says:
Write device failed.
Have tried to read and then write back to radio without
any changes. Get the same message.
Have tried both the mic connector and the acc connector
for programming. Get the same results.
Radio model is: M01RHM9PW5BN
Thanks,
Jim

What is the speed of your computer?

The current laptop speed is 1.2 Gig.
Unless I missed something on the sheet that came
with the RSS, it indicated 400 MHz or higher.
Have 504 Meg of RAM, sheet says I need at least 256 MB.
Have the RSS set to com port 1.

well it's the latest software and the firmware is pretty current.
I've read earlier versions with no problem.
The first thing is reinstalm the software and try again.
If that fails try another computer.
At least we then know whether its computer, software or radio related

What about the cable from the RIB to the PC? What about the cable from the RIB to radio? Are there possibly any loose wires in either cable?

Be sure someone hasn't tried to mate a deck and control head for different "models" (i.e., Model 1, Model 2 or Model 3). They aren't interchangeable. We encountered this once and I seem to recall that the error message on write was obscure; I also seem to recall that the radio would read OK.

As far as I know, this radio is in it's original state of
assembly. It has the original front panel.
Have tried a different computer that is much slower.
Came up with almost the same results. Still get the
same "Communications with radio failed" message
when trying to write to the radio.
Have tried another RIB. Used a Polaris PA-II. This
time I get the dreaded error code 01/82 to indicate
I have cleaned out the code plug info. At least I have
it stored on both computers so if I ever get over this
write problem, I can restore the code plug.

Ran into a radio tech today that told me to try and disable the bluetooth interface in the computer.
Will try that when I get back to the shop on Saturday.

I know I've seen someone post on here about disabling the I.R. port (if it exists) in the BIOS as well.

Update for those that GAS on this MCS2000 programming issue.
Problem has to be the levels coming out of the Polaris RIB.
Tried using a Motorola RLN4008E and it programs the MCS200
just fine.
Stay tuned for the fix to the Polaris PA-II interface RIB.
