Does any one know what type of coax is used inside a motorola radio. Specifically, Why type of cable has that clear/copper colored type outer jacket. I want to buy some from tessco in the RG58u size range, (making jumppers) but Im not sure what to ask for. Thanks. Mark.

I don't know about the RG-8 size stuff, but RG142 or RG400 is the same stuff in the RG-58 size range. 142 has a solid inner conductor, while 400 has a stranded inner conductor. Both have two layers of silvery braid and that tan/copper color outer jacket. Teflon insulation is used throughout. It's extremely durable but the solid stuff doesn't like to be flexed too much. They use standard RG-58 connectors.
