There are a couple CDM1550's on ebay I'm looking at, and I'm running into a couple issues decoding the model numbers. The following are the links to/model numbers of the 3 radios:

radio 1: AAM25SKF9DP6AN
radio 2: AAM25SHF9DP6AN
radio 3: AAM25SKD9DP5AN

After looking at the model number decoder for the CDM series radios, I can't seem to find a couple things. That includes the "DP" designation. I know "DU" is LTR trunking. Also, there is no 6 listed for the number of channels.

The main reason why I'm asking is the #2 radio says 16 conventional/trunked channels, and #3 says 64 channels. So I'm trying to determine who is right.

If anyone can shed some light on this I'd appreciate it.

9DP6 = Programmable/Passport/160 chan LTR, passport w/MDC on conventional
9DP5 = Programmable/Passport/128 chan

the DU6AN radios can do all 160 conventional channels along with the trunking system. the DP radios are 16 or 18 conventional channels only and the trunking system. the 5 & 6 are just the number of channels. and that's mostly for cdm1550's. the cdm1250's are the only ones that are 64channels. this may make it easier, what kind of radio are you looking for and we can tell you what model number to look for?

I'm looking for a 160 channel "S" split 25-40 watter model I could care less about the trunking, I'm more interested in the QCII encode feature.

ok if you want QCII stay away from the dp models, they can't do QCII. the s split is uhf 450-512mhz. you want a AAM25SKF9AA6AN for a cdm1550 and a AAM25SKD9AA2AN for a cdm1250. the 1250's can encode and decode QCII also.

Would a DU model do QCII? The only reason I ask is that it's very hard to find an AA model nowadays. So if I know to stay away from the DP models, but DU's are ok, I'll be good.

yes the DU models will so QCII but those are very very hard to find and i'll bet you never do, i've only seen about a half a dozen and they were all vhf. the railroads like to use them. i think you're gonna be best finding a cdm1250.
