XTS-5000 doing the 850 channels

Post by 123 »

Two questions:

1. What is required to have an XTS-5000 go from the old 512 channels to 850 channels? Just the newer CPS? Firmware upgrade? flashcode upgrade?

2. If a XTS-5000 has 850 channels & is upgraded to FPP< Does it still go back down to 250 channels?

1) 7.00 or newer firnware I believe.

2) The only radios I have seen FPP and 850 mode are trunking radios, in that case, then you are still limited to the 250 modes that are FPP, the rest (600) is trunking personalities.

Firmware 8.0 or better, and trunking is not needed.

If you upgrade it to FPP it will become a 240 Channel Radio

15 Zones of 16 Channels Each.

This is the standard setup for FPP.

The thing spectragod speaks of is a particular flash configuration that happens to include trunking and will permit you to have the 240 Channels modifyable via keypad and create an extra small set of personalities that the rest of the frequencies will reference to (option wise , signaling etc.) the tx/rx freqs, pls, dpls, Nacs and names can be configured though ( everything in the zone channel assignment page) you just can't setup different signalling, all that stuff for each of the remaining channels. Its really confusing I know.

so you still have 850 channels total, just 250 of them are actually FPP able? Is this correct?

How many actual channels will the radio do 850? or is this just total personalities.

Its 850 total modes, be it trunking or conventional

240 personalities can be FPP, regardless of how many modes you assign to that personality. The rest can be conventional or trunking (if so supported by the flashcode).
