For example: You buy an MCS2000 last programmed by RSS 05.00.00 and you only have CPS 02.00.00.
Does the CPS always "trump" the RSS even if RSS is a newer version?
Does CPS Trump RSS regardless of version ?

I'm not exactly sure what you mean, but if I understand correctly you're asking that if you have CPS, will it always work. As long as you have the newest CPS, you'll be good to go. For example, if you have an Astro Spectra that was last programmed with RSS 9.05 and you use CPS 5.00.02, you'd be set. The only thing you can't do is go the other way around. Some versions of CPS are compatible with RSS, but that isn't always the case. I believe CPS 1.11 for the MCS2000 was the last version that was able to also be read by RSS.
Re: Does CPS Trump RSS regardless of version ?
No, it doesn't. If the CPS was an earlier version than the DOS RSS you are using, then the RSS will work just fine. In your example though, RSS 5.00.00 was well before any CPS was released for the MCS2000.Does the CPS always "trump" the RSS even if RSS is a newer version?

Thanks for the replies, folks. I probably used a vague example.
In this case, Astro-Saber UHF II no trunking, keys or such extras, just a conventional radio with normal factory band split. No hacking present or sought, just a normal model.
Let's say I have bought the Astro Saber which was last programmed with the DOS-RSS version, say, R09.04.xx, but I do not have that late a release of RSS. If all I had was the CPS for that radio in version R01.01.xx.., that is CPS but an earlier release than the RSS in that radio, would I then be able to write to that radio?
Can a CPS which is older than a DOS-RSS override that RSS? Or..must the CPS always be a newer version, later date release, than the RSS?
Thanks again for your help !
