Hi, my MTS2000 is giving me the low battery beep, and than the long low beep tone, meaning the battery is dead, however the battery is fresh off the charger, the light is green, it has been working fine for months, I dont know why this suddenly happened last night. Any suggestions?

Try a new battery.

WPNN4013 NiMH 2000 mAh 7.5V from Motorola is about $50.00 brand new. Better than buying NOS aftermarket batteries on Ebay - you never know how long they're going to last.

I'll bet the Circle-M all-around low battery alert blues is caused by the damn low battery settings that's used...even the Jedis have that trouble.

Circle-M always has the highest-set low battery alert level, like 150-178 for some reason and this will always give a false indication the batteries are near depletion, when in fact they are fully charged.

All you need to do is reset, or readjust these settings, there is one for TX and RX...set them to 1 so the alert rarely goes off and you get MAX life out of the batteries before they actually die.

Good thing these 'adjustments' are not only found in lab RSS.

It should be in the main menu area, under F2 I believe, where you also find control/button assignment.

Just look in the first section of the software, you will see the low battery alert level and annunciator levels...I'll bet your low battery alert level will be in the high 150's also, with 158 being some cobbled number their code staff chose to make people buy more Circle-M batteries.

As I said, just go into the settings and adjust those two down to 1 or something, so you get max battery life without that annoying chirp.
Depending on where that's set also depends on how often you hear it.

Ugh. If you're going to post something, then be productive about it. The low battery set point is programmed in lab only. The settings you refer to are for minimum alert volume and delay between low battery warnings.

If the battery was bought new from a dealer within the past few months, have them look at it. If you bought it on Ebay, it could have been a reconditioned battery and now has reached the end of it's life cycle.

Wholesale is higher then that. Unless someone is running a charity you will be hard pressed to find new batteries at that price

YIKES! I just checked and mine is the same too. I wish I had my "special" pricing back. I lost it when I moved back to the States.

I think mine is refurbished, it came with the radio which was bought on ebay, it looks brand new, but the life is not nearly as good as my Kenwood or CP125, Ill check it out with the shop. The thing is the battery has worked normally for months, now all of the sudden a full battery shows dead on the radio.

Just on a side note anyone know how much MTS/X RSS or CPS costs from Motorola? Im looking to get it and would like to know how much I have to save. What do you guys recommend RSS or CPS? this would be the first RSS software I have used, so im thinking CPS but is there anything that you can do on one and not on the other?

I am being productive and yes, the settings I referred to ARE the low battery indicator levels, the ones that tell the radio when to 'beep' at a specific battery voltage/current...the ones that tell 'when' to act on a given set of circumstances, such as battery charge level.

Not everybody has access to, or even uses lab, so telling about these settings in 'lab' does not carry weight to many here with similar problems.

But then again, you have to get into the settings in 'lab' to alter the properties, in that, I neglected to mention, but lambasting someone for offering a point of 'reference' is uncalled for, or is everyone trying to browbeat another for under provided information?

If this is the case, then maybe this forum deserves to lose members and support, it's not a job that many post here, and it's certainly rude to offend outright as well, not to mention just poor manners.

We all do not sit at our work computers and pore over every topic and then dig into specific RSS packages just to be able to post answers to questions, a lot is done by memory or recent usage, as is my case.

I appologize to the readers of this single post, but this is starting to get out of hand, and we all need to return to a far more civilized method of information exchange instead of the growing disrespecful posts I know we are all seeing here.

I can get 6-10 hours' monitoring out of any of my Jedi's when the beep starts, using 2400mAh aftermarket NiMH batteries.

Ok, now Im pretty sure its not a problem in the RSS because its been fine for a few months since its been programmed. The battery worked fine for me until last night. Ill try the radio with a good battery on monday or tuesday when I can get to the shop.

running any version of LAB/DEPOT on an MTS2000 isn't a good idea...Toolproofing comes to mind.
