Is there a way to know : for example 214 date code if it's 1992 or 2002 ?

Not a 3 digit code.

Can I figure it out on the battery label ?

I'm gonna venture a guess that it's more recent.

You can use process of elimination to make an educated guess. Things such as:

Where was the battery manufactured?
Where are the cells from?
What is the part number on the battery?

Odds are going to be that the battery is going to be from the more "recent" round of years. I doubt there are many batteries 10+ years old that are still workable.

I know they will not work good or not work at all if they are 10 years old. But if I purchase new batteries over an individual how could I know if they are really new or nos ?

Easy, purchase them from a reputable seller.

the last letter of the part number will probablly of changed within the last 10 years. another thing is what radio is it for? if it's for say a ht1550 or a newer radio, then it's the newer date code, theese newer radio wasn't made back then. but if it's for a ht1000 then look at the letters after the model number.

They are Jedi ones. NTN7143CR and NTN7144CR. Letters after these model numbers ? I have a 310 AKU2 1

it is a NTN7143CR. HLS can you figure out 1993 or 2003 ? Looks like someone is selling nos batteries but very old !

Those are 2003 batteries. CR is the current revision

i agree, those are current "BUT" they are still from march of 2003 so they're over 3 years old even if they are NOS. and let me add this, that date code motorola puts on almost everything is pre dated for a guestimated shelf time so realistically those batteries labeled 310 were possibly made in December of 2002. the only thing i can suggest is that if you are getting them from a reputible dealer, get a receipt so the warranty will start from the day you buy them.

Ya, as long as they are sold as new by an Authorized Dealer and indicated as new then the warranty starts ticking from the day you buy them. If it's not a dealer then you may find that "NOS" means "bought at a surplus auction and good luck"

i bought a battery in september from a dealer...the code is 703 i forgot how to read the code and thought it was 70th week of 2003...i started to think, there isn't 70 weeks in a year. its a 3rd week of 2007.
