How do you get something out of restricted sites from Internet Explorer? Some how "myspace.com" got put into the restricted sites area on my laptop. I have searched for the site within the restricted sites list but it is not in there. I have looked line by line. However it still shows up at the bottom right hand of the screen as restricted. This laptop has win 2000 pro.

hum, try: tools, drop down to Internet options, Privacy tab, press sites, theres a Block, Allow, & Remove feature.... sometimes sites get in there?
_____________________________________________________________
in the restricted sites, go to tools, internet options, Security tab, highlite restricted sites, then to the right you should see Sites light up... click on it & go thru the list...then try to see if its in there & remove it... (see the warning to the left: zone contains websites that can damage your computer or data...) It may also be listed as an IP address... ex: 66.250.27.28 then you might have to search for it in
http://samspade.org/
PS: you can also search for the ip by searching for myspace.com
http://samspade.org/whois/216.178.32.48 that may be it? maybe?
let us know what happens? happy thanksgiving Duane, later, jim

IP for Myspace.com should be 216.178.32.52. If that doesn't work, try bringing up your start menu, selecting "run", then type "cmd" in the address line. Once you get the command interpreter window up, simply type "ping
http://www.myspace.com", and it should give you the correct IP as it pings it.

Well, I got a chance today to try what you guys had spoke of and I couldn't find it that way either. Any other ideas? Usually this wouldn't be a big deal but I didn't mark this as restricted site on this PC, works just fine on my desk top.

I looked at the site, you could ignore it, or go over my post under your top post again, if its restricted? that would be the place to remove it.
I did get a low spyware hit. Windows defender took it out for the 1st time.
So I would keep my spyware tools up-to-date.
This is where you should be to remove it

If its not in the box? I'm lost....
be back tonite..... later Jim

Last hit on restricted sites on Internet Explorer, I just noticed when I go to ebay.. on the status bar, it comes up as a restricted site. But I Accept First party cookies, use session cookies, & block third party cookies.
So I have ebay in the box as a managed website - Always allow.. the site.
make any progress?
Maybe a simple answer

Myspace along with other sites typically gets restricted by system administrators at corporations and other offices. This can be done on a per computer basis or accross the board as a way to keep workers doing what they are supposed to be doing at not surfing the web.
Check with your system administrator if you dare. They may have you blocked from the site. Sites can also be blocked at the router, check the router to see what IP's have been blocked.

that website flags restricted site on my home notebook, once I leave the home page & look around.. but I'm blocking 3rd. party cookies.
see
http://www.myspace.com/Modules/Common/P ... ivacy.aspx
and drop down to: "Use of Cookies"
so if I understand it right. I get the samething, on IE, another browser is a good way to go..... later.. Jim Reid
