I ran into similar symptoms with a 900MHz Spectra that I was trying to restore to functionality. Assuming your setup has worked with other Spectras in times past, AND you have not made any changes to your programming computer setup, I would guess that the radio you're working with is badly corrupted, perhaps beyond recovery short of replacing the MLM (and possibly the command board).

I will say this much: You should never run Spectra RSS under anything other than true MS-DOS 5.x or later. Trying to run it under any sort of Windows load is just begging for Murphy to come and mess with you.

Happy tweaking.

Sounds like either a RIB, power, or RIB-to-radio cable problem. Although rebooting is not something I'd like to see, having the program hang is certainly a possibility. In the few times I've attached a RIB cable to the wrong radio, the software has reported some kind of failure to communicate.

Can you read the codeplug from the radio, or is that also not working?

Are any errors showing up on the radio display? I could see a codeplug problem giving you weird actions, although I'd also expect other problems as well

You might want to try reloading the RSS. Almost sounds
like you have a corrupted file in the RSS.

Don't forget to save you codeplug files before you do this.
Best way is to clean out the directorys and do a clean install.

Possibally a bad MLM as that is where the Service information and alignment points are stored. Seems the RSS can not access that storage location.

The 'programming' data is also located in the MLM but at a different location. So the programming information could be intact but the alignment data would not be readable.
